People’s Service Society, Palakkad (PSSP), is a registered Charitable Organization with Reg. No. 55/78. Since 1978, PSSP has been engaged in pursuing the integrated development of women, children, marginal farmers, scheduled castes, scheduled tribes, minorities and unemployed youth through informal education, capacity building, and empowerment.
Pioneer in the Formation of People’s Organizations: Since 1980 PSSP has pioneered into forming and empowering People’s Organizations at the grass root level as the real agent of social change and development. Thus we have organized 1755 Self-Help Groups of women, each group consisting of 10 to 20 families. The SHG members meet once in every week. These SHGs are networked into 185 Mahilasamajams. These Mahilasamajams are registered Societies and remain affiliated to PSSP. They are in turn networked into Panchayath–Level, Block–Level, District-Level Federations. They have their monthly meetings in the first, second and third weeks respectively. Likewise we have 720 Farmers’ groups as well as youth clubs and Children’s Clubs’ Networks. PSSP imparts continued training to the leaders of these organizations and they in turn render their service to these organizations. Besides, our animators and coordinators facilitate and monitor their activities. They also participate in the monthly meetings at the various levels.
The simultaneous existence of abject poverty and spectacular affluence challenge the meaningfulness and the very fabric of society. It calls for the concerted efforts of all persons of good will to dedicate themselves for the empowerment of the poor, marginalized, oppressed and the downtrodden. We are committed to enable the poor and the deprived persons to participate in the goods and services of the socio-economic world. As far as a Christian is concerned, this mission is a constitutive dimension of his/her realizing God’s Kingdom of justice and love on earth.
We are with the poor and marginalized for the realization of social justice and the common good. As the very name signifies, it has been people oriented, and has been working through participatory process in planning, implementing, monitoring and evaluating developmental activities.

I am very happy to bring out the revised website which illustrates the prominent accomplishments of PSSP in the past years and present. PSSP is blessed today as we are progressing convincingly in the field of social work. We are working strenuously for making an integrated, sustainable and economically secure society by concentrating on empowerment of nature, farmers, women and unemployed youth. Kindly go through the details of our varied projects demonstrated in this website. You are always welcome with your valuable suggestions and remarks.
Most of our ideas work, not just because they are creative, but because they are supported and endorsed by our Bishops, my Predecessors in PSSP, our Funding Agencies, Benefactors, Fellow Priests, Parishioners, Well-wishers and Friends. The active involvement, extra effort and hard work by the Staff help PSSP to complete the projects as per schedule. Thank you all.
